In Lincolns chair book Chair provides an interesting and engaging look at the Shakers, one of the most complex but largely ignored religious groups and one of the most unusual and successful Utopian communities in American history.

The book tells the story of the Shakers from their tumultuous beginnings in the eighteenth century to the present day/5. The Empty Chair is the 3rd book in the Lincoln Rhyme series. (after The Bone Collector and The Coffin Dancer) I really enjoyed the first two books and looked forward to reading this one.

However I didn't really enjoy it at all. The setting is new, Rhyme and Sachs are in /5(). Something else I enjoyed about The Empty Chair I have to admit, I was quite skeptical of The Empty Chair because the previous installment, The Coffin Dancer wasn't my favorite Deaver book.

One thing I really enjoyed about the case in this novel was, Deaver brought back the forensics, Lincoln /5. After Lincoln had been carried from the theatre to the Petersen home across the street, another eyewitness summoned reporter Lawrence Gobright to investigate the scene.

“The book is more an overview of the historic Shakers. It is a brief narrative that encompasses the total of the Shakers’ experience.

Well foot-noted, Mr. Lincoln’s Chair is an excellent introduction to the Shakers.” — Charles R. Muller, author of ‘The Shaker Way and co-author of The Shaker Chair.
